UNITED SIGNS WORLD LIGHT FLYWEIGHT CONTENDER HAGHIGHAT-JOO

TORONTO — United Boxing Promotions, Ontario’s premier boxing company, today announced that it has reached a long-term promotional agreement with world-ranked light flyweight contender Sara Haghighat-Joo.

“I am excited to officially welcome Sara to the stable, she is one of the most sought-after fighters to make the switch to the professional ranks in Ontario,” said United president Tyler Buxton. “With Sara’s talent, she will continue to move fast in the sport and we look forward to seeing her in massive fights very soon.

“We are completely on the same page as Sara and her team, and want to grow her profile as a star on Ontario’s biggest cards.”

Haghighat-Joo (3-0, IBF #6, WBA #8) dazzled in 2023, scoring dominant victories over ranked contender Esmeralda Gaona in October and former World Title Challenger Mayela Perez in February.

“It’s all about the vision, and both United and I have the same idea of where my career is going to go,” said Haghighat-Joo. “Since the start, I’ve been moving fast with eight- and ten-round fights — now we’re ready for titles.”

Working with United, the light flyweight contender is on the cusp of fighting for a major championship on home turf.

“A legitimate title is where we’re headed,” said a determined Haghighat-Joo, who did not lose a single round in 2023. “Bringing titles to home base in Toronto — I want to bring everyone here, with my friends, family, gym and promotional team supporting me.”

Haghighat-Joo (Etobicoke, Ont./Vancouver, B.C.) is trained by Stevie Bailey out of Toronto’s West End Athletic Club.
