PICKERING — Fresh off a thunderous knockout win in July, lightweight Gisu ‘Terminator’ Lee (9-4, 2 KO) returns to the ring on October 21st at the Pickering Casino Resort, where he will meet Mexico’s Andres Sanchez in an eight-round lightweight contest presented by Tyler Buxton’s United Boxing Promotions.
A native of Seoul, South Korea, Lee took less than two rounds to dismantle tough veteran Cody Kelly in his Canadian debut on July 8th — and is ready to make a statement in his Casino debut.
“I’m excited, this is my first time fighting at the Pickering Casino Resort and fans are going to get an entertaining fight,” said Lee, a former South Korea Super Featherweight champion. “My first fight in Canada, I didn’t show who I am as a boxer 100 per cent. Now that I know how the pre-fight process and weigh-ins work, fans are going to see 100 per cent of Gisu Lee’s boxing ability.”
The Durango-based Sanchez, a credible veteran of 16 professional fights with a number of wins against undefeated opponents, represents a step up in competition for Lee.
“Mexican boxers are really aggressive and press a lot, (but) I am good at fighting against that style,” reflected Lee. “They pressure and never back off — and I want to pressure him at all times. Fans are going to enjoy this fight.”
The well-built 27 year-old showcased power in both hands back in July, scoring a first-round knockdown with his left before closing the show with a lightning-bolt right early in the second round.
“Fans should keep an eye on my left hand, we have a plan and it will be very fun to watch,” said Lee. “But they shouldn’t forget about the right — and neither should my opponent.”
