Russell Named 2023 United Newcomer of the Year

Jamaican Middleweight sensation Kemahl ‘The Hitman’ Russell has been named United Boxing Promotions’ 2023 Newcomer of the Year.

Russell (Kingston, Jam.) made his return to the professional ring in 2023, scoring three knockouts in as many fights — each one more explosive than the last.

“I am going to become a World Champion,” said Russell, whose 16-1 (14 KO) record has him primed for a rise up the world rankings early in 2024. “The Middleweight division is wide-open, (and) I’m sure fans believe me now when I say I’ll make a statement.”

He promised an entertaining early stoppage against reigning Mexican champ Rafael Ortiz on Dec. 2, and delivered in a big way with a monstrous third-round knockout.

“I’m a man of my word.”
