MONTREAL — SHAKEEL ‘THE JAMAICAN JUGGERNAUT’ PHINN TO CHALLENGE ERIK BAZINYAN FOR NABF SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE

United Boxing Promotions, Ontario’s premier boxing company since 2009, is proud to announce that Shakeel ‘The Jamaican Juggernaut’ Phinn (26-3-1, 17 KO) will challenge reigning NABF Champion Erik Bazinyan (32-0, 23 KO, WBA #2, WBC #3, WBO #3, IBF #5) on April 11 at the Montreal Casino.

“This isn’t just a great fight for Montreal or Quebec, this is a great fight for Canadian boxing,” said United Promotions president Tyler Buxton. “On April 11th, Shakeel will prove he’s one of the best in the world.”

Bazinyan-Phinn also represents a collaboration between two of Canada’s top boxing promotions: Eye of the Tiger Management and United Boxing Promotions.

“It’s a phenomenal moment, with two of Canada’s top boxing companies working together to make a fight that fans want to see,” continued Buxton. “We want to Camille Estephan and his team for their efforts in making this happen, as we work towards the collective goal of growing professional boxing in Canada.”

The championship showdown will see Phinn return to the site of his greatest triumph, the Montreal Casino, where in 2019 he stopped Elio German Rafael in the 10th round to claim the NABF and IBF North American Super Middleweight titles.


Fight File: Erik Bazinyan vs. Shakeel Phinn

Both men enter off decisive knockout victories; Phinn a devastating one-shot stoppage of Rafael Sosa Pintos in October, Bazinyan a third-round demolition of Billi Godoy in January…Phinn is a perfect 5-for-5 since returning to the professional ring in 2022…Bazinyan will be aiming to defend the NABF belt for the 7th time…This will be Phinn’s first fight on home turf in Quebec since May 2022.
