Big Men Collide: Big 12 Brown to Face Darmos

PICKERING — Towering Jamaican Olympic heavyweight Ricardo ‘Big 12’ Brown will return to the ring on Dec. 2, when he will square off with Hungary’s Jozsef ‘The Gladiator’ Darmos in an international showdown at the Pickering Casino Resort.

Brown (9-0, 9 KO) has terrorized his heavyweight competitors since turning pro last February, and in four fights thus far in 2023 has only accumulated four full rounds of work.

A former two-time Hungarian champion, Darmos (14-6-3, 10 KO) is the strongest opponent that Brown — a crowd favourite in Pickering — has faced to-date as a professional.

Brown enters off a second-round knockout of Czech champion Pavel Sour back in September; the Jamaican put Sour down repeatedly, and ripped off a few push-ups on the canvas after the fight.

Darmos is a 23-fight veteran who last fought in November 2022, when he stretched rising heavyweight prospect Dardan Avdylaj to the fifth round — the longest of the latter’s career — before falling in Austria.

Brown will be hunting to extend his perfect 100 per cent knockout ratio, while Darmos will be extra-motivated — knowing anything other than a win in Canada will likely spell the end of his career overseas.
